VINTAGE CARDS FOR CHRISTMAS GIVING

Vintage Cards For The Holidays

This year use these beautiful cards to make crafts and decorations with your family, friends, church and students

Obtain your cards below to begin all card projects if you don't have your own collection.  I've always saved old cards from all occasions because my children and now grandchild love to look at them.  So if you have your own collections you can use those for the projects in this series.

The Gift of Time For Children:

Sometimes the best gift of all is the gift of time. Make a thoughtful collection of places and activities each of your children enjoy that you can do together.

This can be done by creating a book using the cards for the back and front covers.   Binding can be done by stapling the  inside pages to front and back covers made from the cards.

Another form of binding could be done with any binding tool.  However the easiest method would be to use a thin layer of Elmer's glue at the back edge of each page to glue them together.  Then glue the book to the inside back edges of the vintage cards you chose as front and back covers.

The pages could be printed from your computer or neatly written by hand to look like coupons with each page offering one item.   You can draw or use cut-outs to symbolize the activity.

The book can then be beautifully wrapped and set aside for Christmas day.   When the gift is given, tell your child or children that you are giving them the "Gift of Time" to spend with mom and dad.

Vintage Card Activity Ideas

An example of ideas would be a small child's baseball for a baseball outing with dad, a package of marshmallows would represent the opportunity for a whole weekend camping at a favorite campsite, and a peanut would represent one afternoon spent at the circus as a family.

One page might be for a family taffy pull, another may be a night of camping out in the family living room on sleeping bags where you all tell Christmas stories and play games, eat snacks and tell jokes. Another coupon could be for baking chocolate chip cookies together or visiting a nursing home in the area and singing Christmas carols.

Think of activities that the kids would like, for example hiking on a local wildlife trail, going to the zoo, making and flying a kite, or visiting a chocolate factory.

Important Note:  Make sure you follow-up and actually do these activities with your child or children or they will always have the memory that you broke their hearts.

Vintage Card Craft Tip If you begin crafting your coupon books early, you can take your time to insure that they are done artistically and in a way that is specific to each child's personality.  You'll make Christmas so much easier and fun.
