As
you can see from the photo above, an old, plain bottle can be turned
into a beautiful gift. For this project, I took an old
perfume bottle and added a mix of ribbon and fabric flowers.
See below for completion and more details.
If
you've got tons of left over craft items, ribbon, lace, rhinestones,
fabric flowers and other such accessories filling up your closet, this
is a great way to utilize those materials. This
is also a great way to spend time with your children.
No matter what age or sex, your children can learn the joy of
making their own presents for christmas and do it as a family affair.
Find a safe place for gift storage in your home and don't
forget to put the name of the recipient on each project whether you
wrap it or not.
What Is Needed
To begin? What If You Don't Have Old Bottles: Go to antique stores. You can get them for about
25 cents in some cases. Rummage through your basement for old jars,
bottles and vases that you can use with real or fabric flowers. Or with
permission look through old junk from friends and
family.
BLUE REPOSE
I found this perfume bottle antiquing with my husband. It doesn't appear to be an antique, but it has a nice look. I like it in front of my grandchildren's picture in my home office. It doens't match the rest of the room's decor, but I like to add something different in a room to stand out a little.
To create a similar look, it's really easy. You can see from the photo that I created a bow from see-through ribbon mesh and attached a couple of fabric flowers and over the top with hot glue. I also added a leaf and contrasting flower. I also used the hot glue to glue the bouquet to the bottle. I don't recommend working the flowers onto the bottle. I did the same for the bottle above only I used regular thin wrapping ribbon instead of cloth ribbon.
YELLOW MOROCCAN
I bought this bottle as an antique. I found a cork and inserted it into the top. For the charms I used old jewelry that I wasn't wearing and glued each peace onto the other.
Other pieces used were 3 old buttons, a drop pearl from an old necklace and tiny pearls from the craft store. I used quick drying glue for the total projects.
