Wreath Instructions

Although my projects are copywrited, you may use those found on my site for personal use only.  The instructions cannot be reproduced in any form and cannot be placed on a website without my written permission.

The wreaths seen below can be changed into thousands of designs.  Items from your kitchen can be used.  The Holly leaves can be cut with small sewing scissors or a paring knife. They can also be shaped by hand.

This project can be made into a pin, a wall hanging, stocking holder centerpiece with a candle in the center and so much more.  You can make them in whatever sizes you desire. However, if the diameter is going to be more than 5," bake 10 to 15 minutes longer than the time shown :)

Margaret Lukasik

"If you're new to this craft, I recommend this
project for practice because it's so easy and there are so many ways to be creative.

It's also easy for children.  Just roll a rope of dough (see the Santa wreath below), fuse it together and use the end of a pencil to make uneven impressions into the surface of the dough.  Air-dry and then add whatever decorations you want.  Children get so excited with their beautiful artwork!  This makes a great Sunday School or Elementary school project."

Wreath Instructions:

1.  Use the leaf pattern to achieve your desired size of holly leaf. Make about 13 or 14 leaves and place one over the other counter clockwise as shown in the illustration to make the circle shape.  Use green dough for the leaves.  Pattern cutters
can be used to make the leaves.

2.  Roll out two red balls (for berries) for each leaf and fuse in place.  If this is a tree ornament, insert an ornament hanger or insert whatever accessory needed for your project.  See general instructions for correct placement.

3.  Bake at 325 degrees for about 20 to 30 minutes depending on your project's size.  Let project cool and then varnish.  Finish with a bow if you like.

Candy Cane Santa Wreath With Ribbons

Candy Cane Wreath:

Make a large roll of green dough about 6" long or more and about 2 or 3 " wide.  Join both ends of the rope at the top end and fuse together.

Using the the pointed edge of the paring knife, make short, quick slashes over the top surface of the dough.  Insert a strong ornament hanger into the top center of the wreath and then bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 90 minutes or until hard.

Make 5 dough candy canes, about 3/4" tall. Let air-dry or bake, then glue each in place to the wreath.  Varnish completely and let dry.  Glue a large matching bow to top area where the wreath ends were fused together.  Glue tiny bows to the top of each cane.  This wreath can be used as a tree ornament as well.

 Holly Wreath Variation:

Family Wreath:

Make the Holly Wreath the same as for the wreath with leaves or the rope and fuse on a wood or dough plaque (already hardened dough) to bottom area as shown in the photo.  Let wreath air-dry. When hard, paint the plaque or leave as is. Paint Merry Christmas across plaque if large enough or your family name. Varnish. See the dough art wreathes Patterns and Illustrations.
