USING THE PATTERNS

Use the leaf pattern to make whatever size wreath you want. They can be easily shaped by hand or cut with a leaf cutter if you have one.

Overlap the top of each leaf over the bottom of the last until you have formed a circle.  See Wreath Instructions for more information.  You can also leave the bottom of the wreath free of leaves and glue a wood or dough plaque onto the leaf ends as shown below.  Attach a bow to the end with quick drying glue or a glue gun once the project is completed.

Decorate with tiny balls of red dough or tiny candy canes.  Attach a bow to top of the completed circle shaped wreathes as shown in the illustration.   Other dough projects can be glued over the center areas of the wreath for a different look.

Reduce or enlarge the size of the Christmas wreath patterns to make pins, tree ornaments, Give wrapping decoration, stocking holders (see angel at right).

See the general instructions to insert whatever accessory you'll be using to complete your project.  To make the Santa, Go Here.

Christmas Wreath Instructions

Margaret Lukasik

"If you're new to this craft, I recommend this project for practice because it's so easy and there are so many ways to be creative with it.

All children need to do is roll a rope of dough, fuse it together and use the end of a pencil to make uneven impressions into the surface of the dough.  After it air-drys they can add whatever decorations they want.  They'll be so excited with their beautiful artwork!"

Candy Cane Wreath With Santa and Ribbon

To create the wreath at right from my Christmas Dough Art ebook,  roll a strip of dough into a cylinder shape and fuse the ends together.  Use the Dough Art Instructions if needed.

Use the point of a nail, pencil or sharp knife as shown below to make quick uneven slices into the dough so that it appears as one piece.

Keep the slices short, not going too deep into the dough.  Or fuse small balls of dough to the rope of dough if you want your wreath to have a greater depth.  Then make the same cuts into the dough.  You can also make quick, sharp jabs into the dough to create a grass-like texture as shown in the heart photo below. Glue any finished project onto the center of the wreath if you like.  To make the Santa, Go Here.

You can also use flattened balls of dough to create a wreath.

Place one flattened ball over another using one or two rows until you have a doughnut shape.  Leave as is for a different look or slice through the dough with quick, short strokes to create a look of pine leaves as shown in the Santa Wreath above.

This project can easily be made from a rope of dough, placed into the doughnut shape.
