Dough Art Snowman

Classification: Easy

Dough Art Snowman Materials:

• Basic salt dough
• Acrylic colors red, yellow, blue, black, burnt umber and white
• General tools and supplies
• Two tiny black beads and 2 tiny blue beads
• Attachment accessory for a pin, ornament, magnetic, earrings, etc. 
• Quick drying glue
  

Simple Instructions:

• Roll an even ball of white dough for the body and slightly flatten by gently and evenly pressing it into a flat surface such as a table.
  
• Shape the two arms from white dough and fuse in place.
• Roll a small ball of white dough for the head and fuse it onto the neck area. 
  
• Make a tiny black ball for the nose and fuse to the center of the face.
• Shape two tiny eye patches from light blue dough and fuse to the face for eyes.  Use your straight pin to insert the black beads into the eye patches.
• Shape the hat from black dough.  Begin with the brim which is shaped from a small roll of dough.  Slightly flatten the roll as shown in the illustration.  Fuse to the top of the head in desired position.  Now, shape the top of the hat and fuse to the top of the brim.  Use your toothpick to make the fold impressions on each side of the hat.  If you wish, make a thin roll of red dough and fuse around the area where the brim is connected to the hat.  Slightly flatten all the way around the hat.
  
• With red dough make a thin rope for the right side of the scarf.  When the proper size, flatten slightly, making sure that one end is wider for the end of the scarf.  Fuse the narrowest end to the back part of the neck and place the remaining part of the scarf over the body.  Make the left side of the scarf the same way and place over the right side of the scarf at the neck.  Insert an ornament hanger now is necessary.

• Make the broom separately.  Roll a thin roll from burnt sienna dough for the handle.  Squeeze a medium sized ball of yellow dough through the garlic press or extrusion tool to create the broom bristles.  Squeeze long strands of dough about 2" long and then fold in half.  Place one strand over the finished bristles near the bottom.  Fuse over the top of the broom handle.  Let both projects air-dry or bake as per general instructions (about 25 minutes at 350 degrees).  If making a tiny project such as earrings, omit the broom.

• When hard, paint on the snowman's smile with black paint.
• Glue on the two blue beads over the chest area for buttons. 
  
• Glue the broom to the left hand and over part of the body. 
  
• Varnish.
