Dough
Art Poinsettia
Dough
Art Poinsettia Materials:
- Basic salt dough or my special flower dough
- Acrylic colors red, yellow, green
- General tools and supplies
- Two tiny black beads and 2 tiny blue beads
- Attachment accessory for a pin, ornament, magnetic,
earrings, etc.
- Ornament hanger or pin back accessory for desired use.
Simple
Instructions:
- Roll
out a ball of red dough evenly if using the flower dough.
Make it as thin as you like. If using salt dough, shape each
petal with your fingers, using the patterns to shape. You'll
need 6 or 7 large petals and six of the smaller petals.
- With the flower dough, you'll need to cut out the
petals using the patterns as a guide. You can easily estimate
the shape without physically using the patterns.
- Arrange the large petals first as show in the
illustration. Then fuse the smaller petals over the bottom
set evenly, using very little water to moisten.
- As an option, you can use the leaf patterns to shape
or cut out the leaves.
- Use a straight pin to create the vein
impressions. Fuse the leaves wherever you wish.
Dough
Art Poinsettia Completion:
- Roll 3 or 4 tiny yellow balls and fuse to the center
of the flower.
- If this is for an ornament poke a hole in the top
center of the project with a toothpick about 1/4" from the
top.
- Let air dry if using the flower dough. If
using the flower dough, let air-dry or if in a hurry, bake at 325
degrees for 15 or 20 minutes. I prefer to air-dry this
project.
- When hard, varnish.
- Insert a ribbon or string for an ornament.
For a pin, use quick drying glue to connect the pin back to the
backside of the dough art poinsettia.
