   Natural Hair Care As Gifts

Filling an old bottle with home-made shampoo can be a beautiful, yet practical gift.  It's also personal, so you have to make sure that the person you give the gift to can use the hair care product you make without having a problem.  For example it's best not to make such recipes for a person with delicate skin or that has to use special products for their hair or skin.

Look for a bottle that has a lid that can either twist closed, or that has a top that will seal the bottle top as the one above.  I used an old perfume bottle so the lid had to be taped well when giving as a gift. In this situation it is best to personally deliver the gift to make sure that it remains upright at all times.

Avoid using a cork as the shampoo can saturate and leak through. However, it will work if you don't allow the shampoo to touch the bottom of the cork inside the bottle.

This is an easy gift to make and very inexpensive.  I rate it a No. 1 on a scale from one to five with No. 1 being the easiest.   Try it for yourself before giving it as a gift and test the bottle before using.

Hair Care Recipe No. 1:  Basic Shampoo

This hair care recipe is for all types of hair.  Please note that if you have oily hair, you should omit the vegetable oil.  However, is your hair is dry or damaged, keep it in the recipe.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup mild liquid soap (try castile made from olive oil)
1/2 teaspoon light vegetable oil

Directions:
Gently stir all of the ingredients together, being careful not to beat the mixure, as this will cause it to foam.  Pour the shampoo into a glass container.  You can also use a plastic, squeeze container as well.

Hair Care Recipe No. 2:  Mint Hair Rinse

This rince will help dull, limp hair come alive.  Together the mint tea and the vinegar will get your scalp clean and leave your hair fresh and shiny.

Mint is naturally energizing and will give your scalp a tingly, fresh feeling.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup boiling water
1 to 2 mint tea bags
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Directions:

Pour the boiling water over the tea bag and let it steep until cool. remove the tea bag, pressing it to extract as much tea as possible, then stir in the vinegar.

To use, shampoo and condition your hair as usual, then apply the entire mixture to your hair.  Massage it into your scalp and work it through your hair.  Then dry your hair as you normally would without rinsing it out.
