Many people
feel pressure at Christmas to buy just the right present for
everyone, causing the joy of the season to be turned into a commercial
venture rather than a fun exchange of gifts. This is not to
say that buying the right kind of Christmas
gift isn't important, because it really is.
However, with
so many gifts available, how does one choose, the "perfect"
Christmas gift? One option is making your
own gift baskets for some of the hard-to-buy-for persons on
your gift list. Gift baskets can be an inexpensive means of gift-giving
that is easy to do, even at the last minute. They're also
attractive and unique because they can be personalized.
If you're having trouble buying, creating and decorating your basket,

To Make Gift Baskets"." Also continue reading to get great
ideas for Christmas gift baskets.
Bread Christmas Gift Baskets
All types of people love a variety of breads. Since there are
many holiday breads, you will not have a problem filling your baskets
with a variety of tasty breads.
As an added benefit to your gift recipient, you could bake a variety of breads yourself. My mother used to make a variety of delicious pumpkin, spice, and zucchini (yes, zucchini makes great bread) breads before Christmas and then freeze them. Before Christmas she would unfreeze them before using them as gifts. I took her ideas and created gift baskets that also included a variety of teas, coffees and hot chocolate. Sometime I also included English tea biscuits.
I always got compliments on these gifts because there is something for everyone in the family, not just adults. So this makes a great "family" gift as well as an "individual" gift.
Wines and Sparkling Cider
Christmas Gift Baskets
Another popular Christmas basket idea is to center a variety of snacks
around two or three bottles of wine or Sparkling Cider, depending upon
what
the recipient drinks. Some people don't like wine, but
everyone enjoys cider drinks.
The fillers for this type of basket are endless. A simple trip to the grocery store will provide you with cheeses, processed meats, specialty crackers, cinnamon sticks, Christmas candles, and other specialty items.
For decorations, you can use pine cones from a mountain trip, silk mistletoe and poinsettia, plaid ribbons, dough art and ribbon creations, stuffed animals and whatever you can thing of that looks like Christmas.
Children's Christmas Gift Baskets
I love making children's gift baskets because they are so easily excited over getting a basket filled with surprises. This is why it's important to make most of the items hidden so that they can receive a basket, yet still be surprised for Christmas. How can you do this and still make it attractive?
What I do is place a Christmas paper wrapped box in the center of any sized basket filled with items I know the child would like such as coloring books, stories, washable crayons, markers and paints, card games, etc. Then I fill in around the box with red or green tissue paper and add stuffed animals, crochet puppets, small dolls, DVDs or whatever it is you think the child might like. All these items can be purchased inexpensively at craft or discount stores. Dollar stores offer a great variety of high quality products if you search through some of the questionable stuff.
Christmas Gift Baskets For Distant Friends or Acquaintances
You can put
together Christmas gift baskets easily for people you know little
about. Fill a small basket with stocking stuffers such
as lottery tickets, playing cards,
decorated pens and pencils, stationary gifts mugs
with hot chocolate, a 3-way teapot, exotic teas and any other items you
can think of that go with a theme. Then decorate the basket with a
large red bow at the side to make the basket look larger. ________________________________
Of course, there are many other choices that one has when creating
their own gift basket and they're certainly not limited to stocking
stuffers and breads for their holiday basket. However, these
suggestions definitely are some of the better ones for your Christmas
gift baskets.
